Concerned about his young daughter's future, filmmaker Damon Gameau travels the world in search of new approaches and solutions to climate change. He meets with innovators and changemakers in many fields to draw on their expertise. 2040 looks at the many ways we could be healing our damaged oceans and highlights that seaweed and marine permaculture would enable not only the sequestering of carbon, but also food for fish, food for humans and an overall decrease in the acidity of the ocean.

Textile artist Allan Brown spends seven years making a dress by hand just from the fibre of locally foraged stinging nettles. It’s how Allan survives the passing of his wife, leaving him and their four children bereft, and how he finds a beautiful way to honour her.
